As we read the Bible we have the benefit of 20/20 hindsight.  It's easy to read the stories of the Israelites and think how silly they are to praise God one moment and complain and grumble the next.  Until...we look at our own lives.  Don't we do the same?  How come when someone shares an answer to prayer that it's always something positive?  Can't answered prayer be disappointing sometimes?  I read from one of my favorite books two Sundays ago about Much Afraid and how disappointed she was when the Shepherd didn't immediately take her to the "High Places."  And the Shepherd asked her if she trusted him enough to handle the postponement.

I deal with this all the time.  I want what I want when I want it.  And yet I've lived long enough to see that God loves me more than I can know and His plans far outweigh any disappointment I feel in the moment.

Our passage this week is Exodus 16.  Read ahead and look for yourself in the story.
