It's All Greek To Me
In Seminary I remember studying and translating John 9 from the original Greek. It was the first time I read a passage of Scripture with such intensity. Too often we read the Bible and skim over so quickly that we miss the nuances and the points God wants to make. Reading in Greek enabled me to see the humor in the passage as well as the use of repetition. It became an easy passage to translate because certain phrases were used over and over.
After too many years away from my time at Seminary, I no longer read Greek but I have remembered to read Scripture with intentionality. I believe each word is there for a reason and I don't want to miss what God has for me.
The mistake the Pharisees made in this passage is that they had already decided who God was and how God worked and they missed the Messiah right in front of them. I pray that we will be open to God's word transforming our lives as we daily allow His Word to wash over us.
