Moving Forward

February 09, 2018
By Pastor Allen

In the passage this week, Joshua 3:1-17, the people of Israel are finally crossing over into the Promise Land.  Times of transition are unsettling.  God gave His people hope by providing for them in the wilderness, but He always promised them a permanent settlement.  I think we make a mistake if we think anything this side of heaven is supposed to be permanent.  The church is a metaphor for the body of Christ.  When we accept Christ as Savior we inherit eternal life.  All this to say, what we do here is practice for the real thing.

The 'real thing' is what is described in Scripture.  If I have learned anything in my few years on this earth is that the only things that are permanent are people, God and His Word.  With that perspective move into the future by depending upon God's Word as The Truth and work with each other to accomplish His will.

Thank you for the opportunity to be your pastor these past 2 1/2 years.  We're family.  Tracy and I will miss you.

God Bless,

Allen

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”                                                                                              Revelation 21:1-4
